Apoquel Chewable (Rx)

Apoquel Chewable (Rx)
Apoquel is a first generation janus kinase inhibitor approved for the treatment of allergic skin diseases in dogs. It is a targeted treatment of inflammation which triggers the sensation to itch or pruritus. Itch relief with the first dose of Apoquel can be seen within several hours of administration. It is an oral pill given with or without food once to twice daily. The active ingredient (Oclacitinib) is considered safe, but may initially trigger some stomach side effects including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Long term use should be carefully monitored as immunosuppressive diseases (infection, neoplasia) may be observed. If any unwanted side effects or changes in behavior or health are detected, this medication should be discontinued and our veterinarians should be notified.
